Lots of people, including the six of us, love you and your family and pray for you all every day.

Wendy, my best friend from 7th grade, had open heart surgery as a baby for the same problem. She made it through just fine, and that was over 45 years ago when the procedure was new and technology was not what it is today. She did need a second surgery as a teen to accommodate the growth of her heart, but she made it through that one too. Her mom, sister and I paced a hole in the floor of the surgical waiting room at Sick Kid's in Toronto, but the Lord was with us. She took up figure skating as a child to get exercise and strengthen her heart and lungs and she went on to win the senior dance event at nationals the year we turned 16. She is now happily married with two beautiful children.

Pray for the best, hope for the best, plan for the best. If you imagine the worst and it should happen, then you'll have experienced it twice. Close your eyes and watch Esther going home, growing strong, playing with her brothers and sisters. See Jeremy holding Esther. See all of your family home, happy together. See only the best ahead and trust that the Lord will make your dreams come true. You need all of your strength and courage right now, and imagining the worst will rob you of that strength.Laurie Santangelonoreply@blogger.com
